There are cult checklists. Generally "cults" would be high intensity groups that encourage dependency on a leader, or on the entire group, and practice an unequal ethic that allows you to be unethical to non-members. In extreme cases members are literally separated from non-members on an isolated commune or colony.…
It's like if I never left the South. Can you play banjo too?
Except in cases of Eucharistic miracles the "accidents" of the Eucharist are bread and wine.
You see older Catholics and the SSPX (a group that rejects Vatican II and generally rejects the idea of religious freedom) say that, but even pre-Vatican II there was a belief in "Invincible ignorance."
I know, but it's the AV Club. It's their schtick. The years I've been here I've had to deal with some of these eye-rolling articles. (I mean of all the many faults "Falling Skies" had I remember the one that seemed to cause the most indignation early on was "That character's a Christian. She's praying and stuff, eek!"…
I was thinking. That sounds closest to their actual origins than most things they do.
"and you sometimes think ‘just don’t be so goddam stupid.'”

I think it had some problems before then, but the S/Kendall thing is probably when I realized I was losing interested in it more solidly.
In fairness that's not all the show is at this point. The person could still be interested in Helena, Kira, Krystal, etc stuff but not find the island stuff to be working even if it's the endgame.
Maybe that's part of why they emigrate to all kinds of places.
I am Pimpbot 9. Resistance is Futile, Fool. You will be turned out.
I like some of their stuff. And they have occasionally done biopic type films that get respect.
Hm I might try that TNT show. I like many of their shows. They might not be quite brilliant, but they're often pretty entertaining and likeable.
I read that a year ago. It's pretty good. I like that they have the Fundamentalist group be wrong without getting quite as judgy of religious folks as science fiction tends to do. Freaky stuff really is happening and the book I think was fairly their reaction is wrong, or even unhinged, but I seem to recall there's…
Oh yeah B:TAS omission is pretty big. As much as I love it maybe MST seems too "cult" for them but several B:TAS things had influence on live action TV and film. Particularly B:TAS introduced Harley and, I believe, Renee Montoya. (Although the comics expanded greatly on Montoya I hear.) As well as a version of Mr.…
Yeah that Twin Peaks; Northern Exposure; The X-Files; Homicide: Life on the Street; I’ll Fly Away; Ally McBeal (love it or hate it it is very 1990s); and Babylon 5 were mentioned.
Nothing for me. Maybe that TNT thing? Anyway ZaiJian!
I like it okay, but I do agree on Superman a bit. And B:TAS might still be my favorite.
Well presumably they're also going to create 1300 people who they will also, perhaps, try to monitor and control. But I think Kira being forced to reproduce, in some sense, is kind of part of their "thing."
