It's a botch then. In the interview/conference call that was just posted on Variety, the EPs just said she's really dead, it's not a fake out (because they already did that with Roy), and we'll find out what he promised her next season. Plus Katie Cassidy is doing exit interviews. If they are all lying, that's messed

Right? The EPs have said previously that they decided to pull the trigger on Olicity mid-season 2, and I don't think even the most hardcore shippers expected them to move so fast.

What's weird about Arrow is that there are female writers, and the new co-showrunner is a women. I think for them it was more of an inability to trust that the audience would still find the characters interesting if they were in a stable relationship, so they just started throwing contrived angsty curveballs at them.

In the last episode she literally gave a speech about how she wasn't motivated by superhero-y compulsions or the thrill of the chase and how she needed to find another way to do good. So…yeah. Nothing gummed up about that.

Again, I wonder exactly how much of Olicity is 'pandering' and how much is 'writers seeing chemistry of actors and writing to it.' The baby mama drama was a terrible drag on the show, and I haven't seen any fan praising it, shipper or not. Sometimes the writing sucks because of sucky writers. Arrow may be nosediving,

I've had issues with how Olicity has been handled, but blaming it on shippers/female fans is a stretch. TV is somewhat flexible but I don't think showrunners are as reactive to fan feedback as fans like to think they are. They plot out seasons well in advance of seeing how Twitter is reacting to certain episodes/arcs.

But don't you think Arrow is actively trying to course-correct with Felicity? I'm having issues with her character this season (Ray's pretty-woman'ing of her was gross, and I'm not loving how every guy seems to be jerking her around this season — even Digg, who tried to guilt her into forgiving Oliver last night), but
