Moving the goalposts.

It's Bojack Horseman for kids!

Harry Potter and the Sad, Unused Bowflex

Expecto patrocum!

Jesus.

See my reply to @drflimflam:disqus. I do think the ability to do mental arithmetic is important, but not as important as actually understanding the underlying mathematics. I'll refer you to the Hechinger Report, as they have some excellent articles on the topic.

Please explain how memorizing a map = understanding "the world and its myriad peoples". I certainly think we should understand the world, but spending time committing place names to memory is a pointless endeavor, particularly when that level of basic information is available at literally the touch of a button.

Well, sure, if you consider rote memorization of geography and multiplication tables important things to emphasize in public schools.

Why? The franchise is called Mad Max, and he's the only recurring character in it.

Looks like the Tower of Joy! *crosses fingers*

Yep. Excellent TV. This season has been very up and down, but the first four were good. 1-3 especially.

"anachronistic views toward women"

You and I have very different tastes, then. The entire "Harry the Heir" arc was a drag.

"far more interesting arc in the books"

He's a *what*?

They do die, but referring to Fili and Kili as "main characters" when we're talking about the films is a huge stretch. I didn't care about any of the characters in the Hobbit films except Bilbo and Gandalf (and that was because they were in LOTR). Thorin was a total prick.

This pun thread is absolutely fowl.

Okay, Ayn Rand.

Not really.

That's straight from the book, though. So blame GRRM, not the show.
