Scorsese: Even when coked out of his mind is a great person.

He spends about three quarters of the film trying to get home one his date *spoilers* herself.

They don't have this one nor The Son.

I'm up for that. I'll play the cello.

Right, it's not like they are Oshima or Greenaway. There's a serious love of the characters and an acceptance in thier lot of life that is very freeing to me. It's more like a Ken Loach film I would guess though I prefer their films I've seen.

Firstly I agree with you on Talk to Her. I like it okay, but it is not as effective as his other films. Plus my sympathies are doused by the bull fighting which is silly of me, but whatever.

If it is anything like the other Dardennes' I've seen than it is actually a more complex emotion than bleak. Something like L'enfant which was my first of theirs succeeds because of how much the characters believe they will succeed in finding happiness and how the film allows them small moments to achieve that.

Bad Education is his best in my opinion. It's a shocking genre exercise that also tackles successfully and dramatically a lot of real issues of religion and sexuality in a way that affect me immensely. I can't see him making a better film ever (though I also cried a lot during The Skin I Live In).

Damnit, I thought I had more time to get my Blu here. I will not offer anything constructive beyond complaints about how hard it is to find their early work.

Only to the Godard.

The original movie isn't even the best of the vengeance trilogy so get your panties out of their bunch.

Spike Lee. It's an interesting choice and he is very stylish.

That was actually the 35th chamber[/adjusts nerd glasses]

Actually the Burton film twist is basically the same as the book's which I guess means that is a good point of comparison.

How so?

I saw him first!

Exactly. The essence of Spiderman is that he's a nerdy picked upon kid who has never had responsibility in his life and then one day he gains great responsibility and must learn how to deal with that. Him being gay or black or whatever does nothing to change that and the people get into a nerd rage are frankly acting

That's how you make a good gay joke.

How does making MJ a man change the story at all?

Us cynics have to work together to get the hate out.
