I liked this season more than the others and it wasn't overly dark for the sake of being dark like last season. That and I think it kinda filled a niche of a darker 'Harry Potter' like TV series that I know I'd enjoy and probably will never see again. I do feel there were parts that were pretty pointless to the plot…
And suddenly next week 'Hey see our planet grid thing we put up was actually to stop the volm and now that you destroyed that the volm, who are actually the real bad guys, are going to come kill us all and take your planet since theirs is gone.' As much as I enjoy the show they follow enough tropes for that to happen…
The Vary's bit with Shae I found a bit interesting when he mentioned how Tyrion would be a good leader for Westeros considering how he actually wants the Tagaryen's/whatever Aegon is back but then I figured it was just typical manipulative Vary's.
