I can honestly say this is the first reaction I have seen that even suggests Renner isn't good in this role. Most are saying it is an excellent performance, even when they are not totally sold on the film itself.

This is one of the few reviews to be positive about Bourne Legacy, but interestingly, at this point, 2 of the three main indicators put Legacy as a better film than Jason Bourne. The Rotten Tomatoes average score and the Metacritic % put legacy slightly ahead. Only the RT % puts Jason Bourne ahead and maybe, when put

A bus passes my my window with Jason Bourne emblazoned on it every 20 minutes. It is starting to irritate me.

It was funny when James Cordon interviewed Renner on the MI press tour. He teased Renner saying there was no way Cruise would ever let him take of his shirt in a MI film. Renner said something like,' that is fine with me, the others had been up training for hours when I arrived each morning with my coffee and donut'.

I agree that his style isn't the best fit for leading a franchise. In terms of range: Hurt Locker - arrogant, focused and emotionally switched off; The Town - violent, unpredictable, passionate; The Immigrant - superficial and romantic; American Hustle - kind, devoted, emotional; Kill the Messenger - transforms from

Oh no! I think they kept Renner hanging around for ages in London waiting for something to do. From interviews I think he got pretty frustrated because his daughter was stuck in LA, his marriage was falling apart and they wouldn't tell him what they wanted him to do and how long it would be before he could fly home.

Renner is great at accents, his Boston accent is widely regarded as one of the best in movies. Wouldn't it be great to see him try an Edinburgh accent? Playing a thug with that accent he would be terrifying and a worthy successor to Robert Carlyle in the first film.

It isn't as good as the other Bourne films, which are excellent, but it is a lot better than it is given credit for and Renner was good. The director had no action experience and he was too precious about the clunky script, which threw out the pacing. I was looking forward to follow up with a different director, but

I like Pegg, but I don't think he is at his best in these films. When he writes his own lines he is brilliant, but with Hollywood writers it seems a bit forced to me. Apparently Renner improvised most of his lines in Age of Ultron and the funny bit with him in the Landrover in RN was all him, so i think they should

Yes! he needs an action role that is really dark and complex, not some bland popcorn role. Moral ambiguity is his speciality, that and sarcasm.

Now he is a dad I think Renner is strictly a two film a year man. If they are not going to use him properly I hope he can walk away from his MI contract and do something a bit more demanding. Renner is good at action, but outstanding as dark, twisted, conflicted characters; surely there is something along those lines

It was a great role, but she played it perfectly. I hope she comes back too.

I think that is fair too! GP had plot holes, but a lot of style. RN had too much manic Cruise for me. I like Cruise in that role, but I would have liked more quality time with the rest of the cast and I think it would have made a more engaging film.

Fair enough! I guess that means O'Russell is just a bully. Need to know? If a producer doesn't see the final accounting for a film I would be extremely surprised, but maybe he is just a producer in name only with no real value or position of responsibility. Interesting discussion though. Thanks for that. I'm signing

Cooper and O'Russell might not have been involved directly in negotiation, but I do not believe for one second that they were unaware of the pay agreements; they are very poor producers if they were and Cooper's suggestion that he was surprised by the content of the leaks is very damning in my eyes. Once again, I do

Oh wow! I missed that bit about Amy, thank you for the link, I hate getting my facts wrong. So Amy got even less than Jennifer Lawrence? That is really shocking. I know they all took less than their going rate to get the film made, but surely that means the producers (who included Cooper) should be scrupulously fair in

I totally agree that Amy Adams was underpaid. She should have been equal to Christian Bale. However, we only know her back end payment so it is possible that she chose a bigger upfront payment and a smaller percentage of the profit, unless Amy wants to talk about this I don't think we will ever know for sure.

The wage gap issue has really focused on American Hustle and specifically the difference in pay between Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence, which, it has been widely claimed, can only be due to gender bias. Now we have a second example, pre Sony leak, also involving Jeremy Renner, in which he is was paid more than a
