Yes I care about representation in media because its a really important aspect of how people see themselves. I also care about those negative depictions as well. I'm fully aware its TV and entertainment and not real life doesn't mean I can't be upset about the way something is portrayed. I do like the show quite a lot

lol whatever dude.

At least know I know why trump got elected /s. Please don't make asinine assumptions and instead engage with me or ignore like a reasonable human being.

How many shows have you watched with gay characters? I suggest you look up the Hayes code for origins into this. One of the more prominent recent examples was on "The 100".

haha wtf? I never voted an F on this show and actually have been a huge fan of it. Thats in part why I was so disappointed by the way the Penultimate episode turned out.

That's very fair. Without knowing the particulars of what was going on behind the scenes it's hard to know whether it was a scheduling issue with Nick Jonas or something the writing staff consciously decided on.

There were also large sections of the show where Nate would disappear. I agree with you I liked what Nate brought to the table when we actually got to see his perspective. He was a very nuanced and interesting character. At the same time however, the show never fully seemed to commit to him being a main character and

I completely disagree and felt like it was a massive cop out on the part of the writers that never really fully committed to Nate as a character. Instead of killing one of the more central characters in Alvey or Jay they kill the queer character who had just finally come out in order to give more meaning to Alvey's

Was so disappointed in the ending of Cactus that I couldn't even bring myself to watch the finale. I expected better from Kingdom(Though maybe I shouldn't have) to fall into the trap of killing its LGBT character off right after they have come out. This is a classic trope that seeks to punish LGBT characters for

Completely agree with you on Bash's sexuality. Though I think the biggest telegraphing was in the Finale with one particular small moment.

This was my reading of the character as well. Especially with his "Butler/Manservant."

I'm really glad the AV Club decided to do coverage of this show. The cast, the diversity and the strength of the writing made me grow to love it. Even though im not a Who fan, I felt like the show stood on its own which is something that rarely happens for spin offs.

I thought it was a great move to have Elizabeth go see a therapist in the same episode and right after she has a flashback to a painful memory of something bad she has done(Young Hee). I think there are cracks in her facade as well in regards to guilt and pain as a result of her work. They are not as obvious as

Love Mateo's therapy panel from Glenn's kids and the one kid casually dropping a heartbreaking story that makes Mateo pause for a second. I feel like we definitely haven't seen the last of Jeff though.

I was really disappointed that the end of the Bar scene didn't turn into awkward drama between Kevin, Moose and Kevin's gang boyfriend. Felt like even an acknowledgement of the hilarity of it would've been a good beat in a mostly downer, plot filled episode.

Yup and if you read my comment that's exactly what I said. My only argument was that they aren't comparable not that they aren't both bad and shouldn't be discouraged/penalized.

That was what the Gaybashing I was referencing was in regards to.

Renee is definitely a plant of some kind and is up to no good. I haven't figured out what that is yet, but I feel like it will be a major reveal/plot point later in the season.

Its not minimizing to suggest that the people you are comparing him with committed much graver things. What Casey Afleck did is not imo comparable to Chris Brown or Sean Penn, or Roman Polanski. It was bad and deserves condemnation, but they are not deserving of the same weight as almost killing someone or raping a

Not to mention the fact that Chris Brown is virulently homophobic and has participated in Gaybashing. He's an all around horrible human being and I don't think he's even on the same level as a Casey Afleck. Almost killing someone and repeatedly using violence against people is different than being just a sexist
