He did not make that assumption. As for Jason and the writer, he probably thought that based on Hall Pass and Stolen Summer, Pete Jones wouldn’t be the best writer to slant the film toward Jason’s sensibilities, and I might have thought that as well. I hope he’s learned a good lesson, and that is not to pre-judge. Or

Yes, she makes for good television and I think she probably is a good line producer. I agree with your comments on the creative people. She will make a good creative producer as well if she stops thinking everyone sees her and judges her as a black woman. Most people have too many balls in the air to think that way

I guess I missed the tantrum Jason had. And of course it is Jason’s prerogative to request film over digital and to press the issue on up if it is that important to him. Pre-production came to a screeching halt? Apparently I missed that scene too. Where are you finding all these scenes that were cut form the televised

Yes. Many of the posters here have obviously not worked with directors on studio projects. Or haven’t worked with directors at all. In the aftershow, Jason stated that he said yes to two of the locations, one asked too much money, and the other was deemed inappropriate for another reason, perhaps surrounding locale?

Jason is acting like a pretty typical director, in my opinion. I guess some think he should just give in even though he isn’t feeling it. I’ve never known a good director who did do that. He was being obstinate about the locations, yes, but they eventually settled on one. He didn’t seem obstinate about casting, it

No. What a comment.

^^^ I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting on the the scene of Farrelly (either one— they both quit) and Effie bonding. No matter whether Jason informed Effie or not, she shouldn’t have gone off on Peter. And with no apology coming from Effie, he won’t soon forget her tone with him. I think he “duly noted” that Effie had

I think Jason wanted film for his reasons and as director, that’s “well within his wheelhouse” as they say on this show, but Effie started taking it personally.

When they first showed photos of the location suggestions, Jason downplayed the Fairbanks house, saying it looked too old Hollywood. At the time, I wondered why no one (like the production designer) had pointed out that they could dress the sets to look appropriate for their use. But I have to keep reminding myself

If the Farrelly’s were pay or play, they still get paid. He had a valid complaint to leave. But he’ll still be on the show, possibly, he certainly was at the premiere.

He quit so he didn’t have to be on camera with Effie anymore. No one likes getting criticized but having it play back on TV and internet would be severely unpleasant for me, and apparently, for the Farrelly Bros as well. They don’t need the aggro.

Yes.

My comment refers to how Effie treats people, particularly Peter. Her conduct, her tone, everything was completely inappropriate. Sometimes a person can get away with treating an underling like that, even though people who do that are generally disliked, but a person can certainly not treat an equal or a superior like

I understand why he wants to shoot on film. But I think he can get close to the look he wants on digital, good enough for a TV release.

He outranks her in every way.

Yep! And even worse, after the phone call, she lectured Marc, the man who hired her. You just can’t do that and expect people to want to work with you again. In the after-episode video that is on HBO On-Demand, Marc stated that he and Effie have not “been the same since.” That is the most telling statement of all. It

Yes, something in common. Marc is better-looking but he did remind me of someone and you absolutely put your finger on it!

No, I dislike Effie, or I should re-phrase, I would be very unhappy to work with Effie. She is far too confrontational. Having worked with producers, writers and directors for decades, I guess I know how directors can be (and are supposed to be) and as a hired gun producer, Effie is making this all about her way too

Yes! And Effie should have known that and been happy to have Peter’s input instead of taking it personally.

Effie didn’t listen to what he said, she started making faces and getting angry without listening to what he was saying. She absolutely played to the drama, and it has nothing to do with being a man or a woman. Peter has been easy-going and upbeat. Effie has not been easy-going, she has made quite a few sarcastic
