Meh. The whole thing felt so flat and forced, a couple of chuckles, no laughs. Perhaps if they removed the Talking Heads references and focused on backstage band dysfunction, it could have been better. I'm a huge Talking Heads fun, I've seen Stop Making Sense a ton of times, and this just didn't push the right buttons

I was obsessed with Stop Making Sense when during it's original run, this underwhelmed me as well.

Going back to the wonderful Spy magazine post a few days back, they did a lovely job of fact-checking Trump's grandiose business success claims in the book. Shocking that most were either grossly exaggerated or complete fabrications.

God I loved Spy.

Talking Heads Live in Rome > Stop Making Sense.

Definitely catch StC, it will enrich this episode so much more for you.

Thanks for the link. In one of those strange moments of synchronicity, I was thinking about Spaulding Gray and his work just a week or so ago – before I even knew that Documentary Now was doing a parody of him.

Zack Snyder would first require a brain TO damage.

The only thing I liked about The Cure back in the day is that girls that were into The Cure would at least make out with you. Girls who were into The Smiths weren't much fun.

By far my favorite DN episode. I love that they did a great job of poking fun at the absurd level of preparation and perfection by the chef – and the pretentiousness of the foodie world, but still brought a lot of heart and humility to the story. A balancing act that's rarely this successful.

I could tell she was undressing you with her eyes.

Tap, Guffman, Show, Wind. Everything else is meh. Guest needs some new inspiration.

I'll also add "mouthbreather" as a very un-80s word.

Along with some strange American television fetish of flogging a limited premise to death.

Seems like the Brits are better at keeping a show's life span short. The Young Ones, Faulty Towers, the original run of Ab Fab only lasted like 2-3 seasons. Even Python was what, 3-4 seasons?

My wife and I watched a stand up special of his post 9/11 and were appalled. Dennis Miller level right wing flag waving.

Worth it.

He makes a valid point, why the snark?

Great writeup of a great show. Sad that it was cancelled, but I don't think a second season could of topped such a glorious first.

Cheers!
