Very true…an example of too many cooks in Hollywood. Since both Flaming Carrot and the Mystery Men were such low-rent, minor-league rustbelt heroes, I believe they could still be given a very low-budget film treatment that would be effective and true to the source material.

I was a huge Flaming Carrot/Mystery Men comic book fan back in the 80's and this movie fell so woefully short of expectations. Complete, wasted opportunity. There are a few good moments, but not enough to save it.

All they serve is Campari, with a melancholy back.

I believe we're close to the same age and both probably in the same altered state when we first saw this movie. I recall the theatre was nearly empty and one of my also-altered friends stumbled down the aisle and fell as we took our seats. A perfect warm-up for the hilarity onscreen.
