A 19 year-old is a woman, not a girl. You may have hit on something, though: perhaps she lost a lot of weight in order to look like a schoolgirl.

"driven by his favorite muse, revenge."
I suppose I kind of mucked up what I meant to say: you are right, he does convey vulnerability, particularly in that scene. What I meant is - despite that scene - there is something distinctly unsympathetic about the characters that McBride portrays. Perhaps it is intentional, but I still don't feel in any way sorry…
"Nancy starts this series as a distraction"
I watched Eastbound and Down very belatedly, and I really liked it, mostly because the supporting cast was excellent and they offered an occasional respite from the main character's relentless self-aggrandizement. Maybe this show will benefit in much the same way. But I couldn't get through The Foot Fist Way.
"I didn't do it"
Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favourite games, I am playing it now, and I just beat Velius, using the speed tactic. I've finished the game a dozen times, but the fight with Velius always catches me off guard. Great example. Its not exactly cheating, though.
Sounds about right. If you are into reading about it I would recommend Bomber and Goodbye Mickey Mouse, both by Len Deighton (if you haven't read them already, that is). The survival rates were ghastly.
His exploits as a pilot are actually fairly well-documented. If anything he is rather modest: it is unbelievable that any Allied pilot survived the war in that part of the world, given how incredibly outmatched they were by the Germans.
Funny, I just read both his autobiographies this past week. The second one, about his WW2 days, is actually quite riveting.
"Beatle-esque" is a strong word (…?) but I couldn't agree more. They definitely have a John Lennon sensibility.
They just played at the Beaumont Blues Festival in Alberta last weekend (of all places).
I have to respectfully disagree, Twice Removed is an amazing album and the superior one in my opinion.
Such a great title. I wanted to see it the first time I heard of it.
It's a great show and I like the Seinfeld comparison. As stated by others, though, care must be used to avoid full on Entourage level happy endings.
I really like him, but I had to unfollow him when he was promoting his last book.
Reading your post I had to scroll back up and make sure they didn't use the term "blacklash" in the title of the article.
That picture never fails to crack me up.
I smoot, you smoot: we all smoot for Kingsmoot.
Ok, probably most of the cast of Bob's Burgers.
