I don't really understand what having chemistry has to do with "seeing them together in real life". I mean, I suppose they would make a handsome couple and I think they get along fine IRL as friends, but their "being together" isn't within the realm of their realities.

I don't understand this either… when I read/hear people say they can't feel any chemistry between Jonathan/Patrick & Russell/Kevin. However, at the same time I understand everyone sees a situation differently and more often than not they only see what they want to see, myself included.

Patrick is all of us, at some point in our lives (or various points, like me). The reason his character is so jarring is that all of those "moments" are blown up & yet compacted into episodes, and they basically make up his entire existence. He's a living, breathing example of how we fuck up our own life/world because…
