"State's rights" is a dogwhistle for white supremacy and has been for about 150 years. It has a long storied history. I'm not making this up—do the research and you'll see that it's true.
But these states will do anything to keep liberal cities from having ANY power. Look how they have prevented them from raising the minimum wage. That kind of thing is going to accelerate for the next few years.
