Is that a rule? Do white dudes suddenly become consumed with self-loathing and shame when their daughters start banging other white dudes? Because if it's a rule that only kicks in when minorities are involved…that's pretty much the definition of racist.

I tried to be a good person about it when Scalia died, at least in public. But "tragic" is just a little further than I can bring myself to go. Good for you if you can get there, I guess.

Apparently Mary J. Blige was originally attached, and I would've been interested to see how that went. She may not have the acting chops (I have no idea), and she still doesn't look all the much like Simone, but I think the role might have gained something from being played by a musician whose emotional life has been

These are truth facts! Also, it's a good movie, which is only an opinion, but it is mine!

But every generation in the history of humanity has had to put up with it, and y'all will survive, too.

Nope! Nixon won everything but Mass. and DC in 1972, and Roosevelt everything but Maine and Vermont. Reagan in 84 also took everything but DC and Minnesota. But so far — and I only delved into the 20th century, so feel free to correct me, history nerds! — it seems like there's two holdouts in every electoral

At first glance, I thought Famke Janssen was starring in a Blackish spinoff, and I was really wondering how that was going to work, precisely….

My dad said, "I didn't like it. I thought it wasn't very good."

Do you live in a universe without 10 Cloverfield Lane???

Why would people in Real America trust fancy-pants film critics who can't spell y'all right?

Shut it down, y'all, the Sexism Decider is on the thread! We have not, repeat, *have not* been granted approval to feel demeaned!

Just to let y'all know, I really love that this conversation is happening in the comments of a newswire about a man who was arrested for failing to return Freddy Got Fingered. That's good AV Clubbing!

You'd also think that Gotham's convicted criminal element wouldn't be terribly inclined to take orders from Batman on who to terrorize next. Hell, I think it would be great if the bat-brand automatically jumped you into some terrifying anti-Batman prison gang.

I think Laszlo has him confused with Mark Hemsworth. Easy mistake.

What if that *is* its single task, though?

I hear ya, I just don't know that "ambitious" is the word I would choose for "Hey, let's have the entire superhero career of our first and most prominent black superhero, the one who co-headlines his title, be on account of how a pimp was brainwashed!" Sure, it's…non PC…but I don't think that makes it *interesting,*

I don't know, everybody, I'm really leaning Darkseid this year. Sure, he's unpolished, but he really speaks his mind! And Thanos has been teased in 4 different Marvel movies so far, so I just feel like he's…pretty establishment at this point?

    Nice commenter/comment synergy.

Well, luckily comics aren't MCU canon, so they don't actually have to retcon 40 years of anything. They can just start from a position of sanity, with Sam Wilson as a competent and experienced guy who believes in what Steve stands up for and could reasonably be expected to carry on his legacy. I like Bucky as much

I really hope it's Falcon. I think it's a stretch to imagine Bucky being ready for that job, what with most of his work experience being as the assassin who helped suborn the US government.
