The Twilight gag was on the same lines too, of people living for ever. So when they spoke of that and then cut to Holmes figuring out that the first two dead guys had "lived for a long time" I cringed: they weren't going to get in vampires (X-files style), were they?

That was the "convention" they referenced! Where Sherlock said Everyone was going to read his essay on Twilight. I thought they meant it as a subtle jab. That was really well doneā€¦.
