This is great news; that's one of my favorite non-fiction books. It's an absolutely fascinating story. While the "Madman" of the title was just that, Gibson's character spent about 40 years working on the dictionary … an act of almost equally "mad" obsession," in my opinion.

Sure it does - it's been seemingly parceled out over the past three years or so, in commercials, trailers, interviews, and once-a-day AV Club posts.

So what's the verdict on this album? Failed experiment? Misunderstood gem?

Yeah … I think the last 40 minutes or so of Revenge of the Sith are the best part of the prequels (the bar isn't very hard to clear there …), but Obi-Wan's seemingly casual act of pretty gruesome violence seem to get glossed over. Why not just finish Anakin off and put him out of his misery, instead of leaving his

… amongst all of the dreck of the prequels, I think a damn fine performance/homage from Ewan McGregor was wasted. Hope that he returns to the role in a Star Wars Story sometime soon.

Yeah … I was hoping that maybe he was planning some sort of version of The Ringer or Grantland or FiveThirtyEight … just give us something, Jon!

Uh, there's no "I'm sure" about it … I hate-watched the RNC, and that crowd seemed to buy into every last bullshit trope hook, line and sinker …

Christ, those crowd reactions make you understand so much easier how events like the Salem witch trials could have happened in America …

My parents still pay their monthly AOL fee because they still think AOL is the Internet.

Among the many things I will miss after The Late Show is over is Jay Thomas' annual Christmas visit Lone Ranger story. The same story, year after year, and it still cracked me up each time.

I'd argue that the improvements began even earlier - the back end of Season 1 really synthesized a number of seemingly loose-end subplots, shaped it all up into the chase for the Urca, and then dropped a genuine surprise or two in the final few episodes.

I really believed that he was high in the "You Don't Know How It Feels" video …

Yeah … that movie was disappointingly pedestrian.

Yup. This is on my list of films that vastly improve their classic-book inspiration.

Occasionally, I'll drop this line to my wife as I head out the door … usually, like Hawkeye, to run to Home Depot to pick up the latest thing that I inevitably forgot to pick up the last time I was there.

They played that cover twice, both times in Hartford (I was there for both). They dedicated it to the UConn womens basketball team.

NME and Third Eye Blind's first album are start-to-finish perfect albums by 90's bands who are not cool to admit that you liked.

I thought that was a pile of ashes … oh dear god, why is the clown sadly saluting a pile a of ashes?

I see how my parents STILL speak reverentially of Kennedy 50 years later … I can't think of one current politician that I would ever speak about to my kids, notwithstanding the historical aspect of Obama's election (not so much his actual presidency …)

It was reminiscent of Steven Segal getting killed off early on in Executive Decision …
