There's 'the truth' [shakes head somberly] and… the truth!! [nods head manically]

Huh, I thought it was a good episode despite the totally unfunny mediator.

Honest question: is having an irrational hatred of Green Day in fact all that irrational? I've always loathed them without quite being able to say why.

I think with St Vincent a big part of how much you like her probably depends on how affected you think her weirdness is. I enjoyed her last album a lot, but it's got to the point where I actively ignore her non-music kookiness which seems to have grown in stature over the last couple of years.

With Radiohead it definitely helps getting into them as a teen (like any band on Earth, if we're being honest) but they've been consistently inventive enough to still love as an adult beyond nostalgia, which is really quite rare.

Wait, why are we all pretending that season 6 was really good? Certainly didn't seem like everyone was doing that when it was actually on.

Age of Ulton was categorically not great.

I'm quite nostalgic for old Sonic games, but it's hard not to agree with the guys at RedLetterMedia: they both encouraged yet punished you for going as fast as possible. And there was actually no reason to go fast. Sonic's USP was a gimmick, which may explain why he didn't endure into the 3D age.

The chess game Roy Batty has in Tyrell in Blade Runner apparently mimics The Immortal Game ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wi… ), one of the most famous chess matches ever, which is certainly a neat easter egg.

Playing instruments live is a terrible strain on the actors' wrists.

Nothing gets a writer to comment on their own piece faster than a shot at their grammar and vocab.

The South African accent is frequently regarded as the most grating English language inflection in the world, so you're not alone. I happened to live there for a bit so got used to it, although full on Afrikaans is still nails on a chalk board.

"I am impressed with his articulateness"

Fine by me. Blue Ruin was really good, working both as a love letter and critique of the genre.

I wasn't impressed by the three songs they released prior to this album, so surprised to see it get great reviews, but I'll definitely give it a listen. About 50% of the first record was really good.

It has 94% on rottentomatoes. I know it's a shock when Dowd gives a
movie a bad review but in this instance I wouldn't take it too much to
heart…

The album's good enough, but I think people are getting really weary of their whole visual shtick. It isn't half as compelling as the band seems to think it is.

Curious to know if they'll include the bit where he fucked a random stranger straight after the walk. Not that I blame him, but they seem to be pushing the love story angle.

I'm taking a 'pics or it didn't happen' stance, but on the other hand I really don't want to see pics of it.

Do they? But yes, he did. In an interview years later Lynch still raved about him and wondered why he wasn't a huge star so I suppose his casting isn't too surprising.
