I don't know. I actually quite liked the plot of Warcraft 2, actually. I also loved Starcraft's plot (the first one). I can actually name quite a few games from the 90's that had very interesting story narratives and plots, mostly from the adventure game genre. Ever heard of King's Quest or Gabriel Knight?

That might not help either. Warcraft *cough* *cough*.

I'm not sure that it's impossible, just that it's more difficult.

So, studio interference then.

No, trying to 'make good' on that is not what killed the Warcraft movie, what sunk the Warcraft movie is not managing to include enough of it to make the story make sense to newcomers (though I saw it with some people who knew nothing about Warcraft but still liked it). What they're doing here is to create new story

Depends on how it's executed, regardless of the story.

That only means that video game make cameo appearances, it doesn't mean that it's an adaptation of a video game. So, it's not technically a video game movie, it's just a movie that has video games as a theme.

A director's cut and an extended edition are 2 different things. He didn't say anything either way about an extended edition, there some deleted scenes for which the CGI are completed and they're even included on the DVD.
