This was for sure an abortion episode, but it was really muddled. To the extent that "ABORTED" pops up on the screen after Clara slaps the button to let the creature LIVE. Oh and I completely read Courtney's "not even born yet" as an argument in favor of killing it.

This isn't a case of secret codes or misreading subtext. It's 100% text. The Doctor actually says "It's your moon, womankind. It's your choice." This was definitely an abortion episode and I was baffled that the reviewer didn't make the connection.
