They should never have shown the portrait. We fear most what we don't see. Big mistake, in my opinion. As for Billie Piper, I agree with you. Amazing.

It could be though. Jokes aside, I think the show isn't perfect, not at all. But when it is, it really is. Elementary is just the usual detective show the US can do so well. It's good, but extremely ordinary. More consistent, certainly. But the dizzy heights of Sherlock? Nope sorry :)

Maybe overpriced, but rare, exciting and with a very singular taste :) Not for everybody, for the finer palate. I leave you to your tuna :)

No, it's not. Frankly, it's like comparing caviar to tuna (Sherlock is the caviar :))
But I understand completely why Americans might prefer Elementary.
