Well, how would a god of globalisation be worshipped? By MBAs in boardrooms? "We sacrifice to thee the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, may the silent screams of the layoffs be pleasurable to thine ears!" ? :-D

The underlying idea, which is also present in a lot of Gaiman's other works, is that all mythology is true at the same time. People's beliefs create and shape the gods, and the gods live off of belief, attention, invocation, flattery, sacrifice and worship.

He's the god of the System, Bureaucracy, Empire, the Spooks, the Deep State. He's The Man.
