Hannibal and The Americans would be my #1 and #2 for the year. Glad to see them get recognized. Maybe someone at NBC will leave Hannibal alone to keep being great through, say, Season 5… And maybe someone at FX will decide to start promoting The Americans a little bit harder.

Quiet, imitation Hamburglar.

Knock me over with a feather for seeing Emmet Swimming mentioned in an AV Club post.
I didn't live in VA but randomly caught them opening for Todd Snider in ATL in '94 and basically became their one fan in upstate SC. I was writing for Creative Loafing and tried to give them all the press I could (Wake might've been

AV Club grading, summarized.
Brooklyn Nine Nine: Did this episode utilize each member of the supporting cast for maximum effectiveness, in a crisply-written plot spilling over with hysterical laughs? No? GRADE=C.

If Dennis wants to buy the songs he just HEARD on CD, though, he'll be waiting an indefinite period of time. New album has no title and no release date.
Part of the music industry's ongoing battle to ensure that no one ever buys music again, ever.

No love for Hit Em Up??

Andre Braugher SHOULD have the Emmy for this episode alone.

While it's not QUITE as good as the last two Robyn albums (what is, really?), I'm partial to the full-length Sky Ferraria album that whiffed commercially. Great weird pop record that sounds a bit like CHVRCHES fornicating with the early Garbage LPs.

Dammit! 90% of the time I'm reading and posting on here with the iPad.
Apple's "word corrections" sometimes do more harm than good.

The moment I became a Springsteen nut was 2009 in Charlotte, when he pulled out a 1974 song Max Weinberg had NEVER played live.
The next night in Greensboro, he opened with two B-sides in a row and played ONE repeat song for the next hour. Hooked.

True story: Last time I saw The Cure, they encoded with the entire second half of Faith. Totally random, and awesome.

The Internet either agrees with me, or thinks we're both wrong and it was Tony Bennett back in 1956. Either way.

Upvoted for truth. It took me a long time to discover "Storms," but now I dare say it's my favorite Stevie song ever.
And once you know "Sara" is basically her evisceration of Don Henley, the song takes on a whole level of meaning…

Funner fact: The first official "music video" was for Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," a full six years before MTV existed.

I've already stopped watching this show and started binging Scandal and Big Bang Theory, based solely on AV Club grades.

I don't think LaToya understands grades.

If anyone just wants a very solid, condensed overview, grab the two CDs Sounds Of The Summer and Warmth Of The Sun. Each one runs 30 tracks and is arranged roughly chronological. The former basically compiles all the big BB songs and some lesser-known ones, while the latter fills in the gaps. (Disney Girls and Feel

Based on AV Club's grading system, I apparently need to stop watching K&P and switch to Big Bang Theory to get a higher-rated comedy experience.

Very conflicted. I love Mulaney the stand-up, so I want Mulaney the human being to do well with Mulaney the show.
But if Mulaney the show winds up being awful, I'd prefer Mulaney the human being to cut his losses and go back to being Mulaney the stand-up. (Ideally touring in Charlotte this time.)

So based solely on AV's grading system, both this show and Selfie are gonna be better/funnier than Brooklyn 9-9? O-KAAAAY.
