The first season was proof that great acting can save absolutely terrible writing.

To be fair, the first season sucked too. It was just harder to tell because McConaughey and Harrelson were so brilliant. The first season story was idiotic, and if you imagine any other actor saying McConaughey's speeches, you can see that they're all overly melodramatic cliches.

Yep… It Follows on any "Best Of" list completely invalidates the rest of the list.

Literature is dead, Ted. Its been killed by MFA programs and lack of interest from the reading public. If no one will buy it, none of the big publishers will publish it, so now it exists only in the tiny little bubble that is academia.

That's how I feel about IT FOLLOWS. Definitely one of the dumbest films I've ever seen. It was like the writer said, "Wouldn't it be creepy to be followed?" and then tried to build an entire movie around that one point with no thought to character or plot. Because it's an absolutely brilliant portrayal of depression, and one of the best psychological suspense films ever made. The people that don't like it tend to be the ones who went to see it expecting a horror film, which it isn't in any way.

It Follows had a creepy gimmick that got old halfway through the movie, the characters were a flat as they could be, and the ending was so amateurish it was absurd. I'm actually surprised people like that film as much as they do.

No way I'd put It Follows anywhere near this list.
