You're kidding, right? You think more people know where Venezuela is than France? Japan? Mexico??? Even just in South America it's behind Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.

My interpretation of that was Ted always wanted to get married not for the marriage itself, but because that would mean he met his soulmate. Once Ted found The One he was no longer in a hurry to get married because he already had everything he wanted (happiness, kids, house, wife).

It gets worse still! Robin and Barney had to get divorced to have the Ted and Robin ending. So the show decided to ruin 6 people's lives (Ted, Tracy, Robin, Barney, and two kids) just so Ted could stand outside Robin's window again, which they just spent the past 9 years proving won't work out.
