Agreed, the AVClub made a big deal about how the name "Khaleesi" was more popular than "Betsy" for newborns in 2012, but get this, most women who go by Betsy are actually named Elizabeth, so it's way less impressive than it sounds. And there were only 146 Khaleesis that year anyway.

Maybe the new timeline created in DOFP can rectify this!

Let's not be too quick to praise John. History tells us he only signed it to avoid being deposed by a rebellion of the nobles, and that he immediately tried to get out of it, successfully getting the pope to declare Magna Carta annulled. The only reason Magna Carta lasted was because John died soon after. His

FWIW, I've seen it argued that the Emperor was never truly at risk of losing that fight and he just set up the situation to force Anakin to go past the point of no return in turning against the Jedi. Ugh, still hate the prequels though…

they didn't actually sing three-part harmony, though! those zombies should still be alive….er, undead!

Fox has the rights to X-Men; Sony has Spider-Man.

Sadly, I think the puppet ep in the season-that-must-not-be-named ruined this premise's potential.

What do I have to buy to save Enlisted???

I got that, but meant that I can't really think of a "holy crap" moment of awesome and/or horror in the MIDDLE of the IV & V plotlines to bring the first combined season to a climax as episode 9 has in every season so far.

Like Virgo or Andromeda?

Ruling Meereen had been much more difficult than expected, Dany recalled as she approached the Isle of Dragonstone astride Drogon…

The decline in quality (IMHO) and in plot-to-page ratio in books 4 and 5 make me think the 5 year gap with flashbacks would have been a better choice. Think of how much plot we successfully received via flashback in the first three books - Aegon's conquest, the Mad King, Robert's Rebellion, the Greyjoy rebellion…

But you would have to split it each book's arc awkwardly to keep all the actors around. You can't have an Imp-less season followed by a Cersei-less one.

It's going to be really hard for the HBO showrunners to pull off any "stalling seasons" after the epic, plot-filled glory of seasons 1-4. The TV fandom is unlikely to put up with multiple seasons of Brienne's aimless wanderings, Tyrion's riverboat ride, and of course the RIVETING Meereen drama.

A Storm of Swords: 2000

I'm the hero cop and I'm here to say,
Don't do drugs is what I'm here to say!

"To the spoiler goes the victory."

OK I concede the point. I had forgotten that and was just thinking about the dragon part. When he mentioned the dragons (to which Britta arguably overreacted and prompted his pretending rant) he was just trying to sell the show.

BoC BOOK 5 SPOILERS:

However, I don't think Abed was intentionally being a jerk. It would be like someone mentioning dragons with regard to Game of Thrones right now. Sure, an unspoiled person wouldn't know about them starting at the beginning of Season 1, but they are all over HBO's promotion of the show, the DVD boxes, etc.
