The Sudanese boy was an answer to Stavros’s prayer that he makes when he returns the money to where he originally found it. The prayer certainly isn’t answered the way Stavros would want (his Son still dies), but the prayer is answered in a way that is amazingly wonderful for the Sudanese boy, and Bill and his wife.

The Sudanese boy was an inadvertent answer to the prayer that Stavros makes when he returns the money to where he found it. Granted, the prayer isn’t answered the way Stavros wants (his own son dies), but ‘a son’ lives and is saved and found. He’s even found in one of Stavros’s own stores.
