I agree with that interpretation, but I don't remember that being how the show presented it. I think in the show, it was much more that nobody would believe it, and that's why they needed other victims of kilgrave's, to establish that mind control is even possible. I could have it wrong, though.

I guess the idea is that when Netflix licenses these characters, they don't want to be tied too directly to the fate of other Marvel endeavors. Not because those movies aren't a sure thing, but in the general "This is how lawyers construct things" way."
