It's not film criticism when you say they should have cast someone else for a role because of race.

I didn't say they picked "the best person." I said they picked the person they wanted to, for the reasons they wanted to, instead of it being exclusively a race-based decision. The question isn't, in my mind, what do I know about the casting process that makes me justify Tilda, or someone else.

My point is that it's understandable why you'd cast certain people, who are or are not white depending on the situation (Samuel Jackson as Mace Windu is an example of a black guy in the same situation who springs right to my mind), regardless of whether or not they happen to match the race of the character in the…
