Thanks! It's funny; Murakami is one of the few authors for whom everyone has their own favorite book and there's not much contention. One person says it's Colorless Tuzuki and another says Wind-Up Bird and they're both like "yeah I liked that one too," or "eh, that wasn't for me."
I love thinking that I'll be able to download the Winds of Winter when it comes out later this fall (wishful thinking, though I'm calling it here: Winter 2017 and Winter 2018 releases for the last two books, which have been secretly complete) and not have to haul around an actual copy.
That sounds really good, to be honest. I read that Farewell My Lovely was three short stories cobbled together, and when you look for it, it's quite obvious. Which is fine; to me Chandler isn't actually about plot so much as style and tone, but I can imagine a more cohesive whole being very effective.
Well you're not invited to the next entmoot.
I got into Blank Check with the Pod Me if you Cast miniseries over June and am finally caught up this week. It feels good to comment with the big boys now. I'm loving all the insight on Nolan; I was really into indie film in the ealry 2000s, so I caught Insomnia in theaters, then somehow lost track of Nolan until I…
Are you saying that perhaps a life in plastic isn't as fantastic as the lyrics claim on first blush?
I always felt The Long Goodbye was very affectionate towards its source material; Marlowe is just as unflapped by the changing social mores of the 60s/70s as he was unflapped by the seedy moral decrepitude of the 40s.
What's your favorite Murakami?
The missus-to-be got me a Kindle for my birthday last weekend and I've been all about it. I've resisted buying one for a long time because it's just costly enough to talk myself out of and I enjoy the feel of a book but mostly it's costly enough to talk myself out of. But now I've got one, I love the damn thing.…
Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

Harlan Pepper are you countin' nuts again?
I wanna fuck that horse!
I'd argue Dustin Hoffman as well. If ever I were to make a list of actors who are the only ones who know exactly what movie they're in, Hoskins and Hoffman would double-head the bill.
Dammit I looked at the bottom left corner of the header image and now Tye Sheridan is going to give me a dead arm.
Donnie Darko is pretty well explained in its original cut. The Director's Cut just gives you the opportunity to read that explanation.
pfft. Typical monopologist.
I'm not sure it matters as anyone who'd willingly play Monopoly has nothing human left to them anyway.
I'm holding out that he's written both of the last two books and is going to drop them on us in quick succession so he's done with our bullshit forever. Granted, this is one of my more optimistic pop culture conspiracy theories (see also 2011's "The King of Limbs is a double album and Radiohead will release part two…
