As a Canadian, for the longest time I thought Action News was something The Simpsons made up to make fun of crappy local newscast. I didn't realize that's actually what half the local newscasts in the USA are called. Our local newscasts have boring names, like 'News at 6' or 'CTV Evening News.'

So, like The Wire?

I'll second that Sam Cooke performance. My other choice is Jerry Lee Lewis in the early-60s, when he was blacklisted from the U.S. and was playing small clubs in Europe. It's a time when it seems like he played every show with a fiery intensity that pretty much no one could match. Just listen to Live at the Star Club

Of his early stuff, I love his five minute bit about being in the back seat. Fortunately, someone transcribed the whole thing so you can read it to yourself in Norm's voice: http://theratassgazette.blo…

More specifically, it was cooked up so Dinesh could find out if the Estonian co-worker was hot.

I couldn't even get past the opening scene in that movie. When your heroes are so powerful, where's the suspense?

I don't remember the first time I saw the Matrix, but I do recall it being a huge part of everything that summer. I started university in 1999 and The Matrix was on almost every day in my department's student bar. Sometimes we would just watch the lobby scene over and over again. It's probably one of the reasons I

Definitely Batman & Robin for me. The Star Wars prequels are close behind, as is the first Transformers movie.

A Montreal bagel, fresh out of the oven, stands on its own. If you let them sit for a day, adding cream cheese helps. If you bought too many and are forced to freeze them, toasting them with butter is delicious.

Ack! Barb's coming!

I had a friend who was a big Penguins fan, so of course we watched Sudden Death. It definitely falls into the "so bad it's good" category.

Rumble in the Bronx was a revelation to teenage me. I remember my uncle getting me and my cousin tickets to see it and being completely blown away. That scene where he fights everyone in the warehouse is all kinds of awesome. Afterwards, my friends and I would head to the local video store every week and get whatever

Dinklage is too good looking to be Tyrion. In the book, he's basically an ogre. In the show, Sansa even comments that he's kind of handsome when she's forced to marry him.

It was at Jane Bond. Is that place still around?

The first time I saw the Sadies was at a tiny dive bar in Waterloo, Ontario, with about 20 other people. That was back when most of their songs were under two minutes long. It's been amazing to watch them grow and broaden their sound, while still always being distinct. I rank them in the top five greatest Canadian

Is there a better opening song on a band's debut album than Black Sabbath? On top of being a killer tune, it sets the tone for everything they did afterward.

My friend who's a wedding and family photographer called it the worst maternity photo ever.
