not me!
not me!
sums up all of Rectify for me…
thank you for sharing that
but Lorelai, it couldn't have been Croatia. we were part of Yugoslavia back then. and wasn't it creepy, seeing Leland Palmer play 'Jack' on a show that only 20 mins before had a Twin Peaks 'wrapped in plastic' reference?
Thank you for echoing the sentiment.
Been trying to rewatch the past seasons but couldn't go through with it just yet, not until it ends. The one storyline I was particularly interested in this time around is the aftermath of Daniel's abuse of Teddy. That little seemingly throwaway scene with Tawney coming home early…
well, i guess i'll have to be 'that person' but yes, women like her do exist. as do the lezlies of the world. haven't met the goat man yet :) don't see her as poorly written nor a trope. on the other hand, i don't think she's a good tonal match for the series and i don't feel her with daniel. in comparison to, say,…
but who is Roger?
clayne goddamn crawford. that man doesn't need words to act.
bring more coffee and don't turn on the light, please.
it's just rectify, innit? its brazen display of that potential in people to go both ways, the oceans of emotion underneath the surface. the shifting sands of people's lives swallowing them whole.
watching rectify (and other good art) sometimes i feel like the greek…
/no other place to catch you but here, pardon my clumsy: so so lovely, so beautifully lovely. well done to us for getting to see you, dear madam
ooh excellent, could you have chosen a more appropriate verb than scurry? i think not!
love gary's dracula to bits. and beyond. always glad to meet another aficionado
good. let them remake EVERYTHING. TWICE. let's speed up this godawful cycle so we can finally be done with it. and in peace and remake-free for the next few decades. ah what time to be alive. human centipede is lately the first image that symbolically comes to mind when i hear of another remake.
so yes. more, please
thank you for being so kind and making this sir's (as much as peppermint patty is) evening
i'm in amused awe of how cringey and douchey the lead was. i couldn't last a solid minute of the preview. so bad. so very bad. so bad it needs to be said thrice. it felt like satire. it's practically unwatchable. maybe a 'hatewatch this stoned' option.
cosigned, all of this. and it feels close and honest and truthful as all good art does, as all good art resonates with that most essential and most deep within.
rectify destroys me. it inspires me, it shatters me. i love it. i owe much to this show.
i was mesmerized by daniel's description of how dismantled he feels after the dissolution of ego, the loss of self, his profound and radical loneliness of being twice removed - both from society and from his image of his self.
he is a truly liminal being, and rectify has shown this consistently over and over again -…
i agree. it's truly vital. it just cuts right through you, right to that place we all need to be reminded of every so often.
speaking of catharsis, i feel like rectify is one of those shows that are helpful to rewatch after experiencing significant changes, as you're putting yourself back together so to speak and getting the hang of things. it's a halfway house in its own way. reentering the world with daniel.
oh the tears i've shed over this show, every each one of them was earned. nothing feels like emotional manipulation on this show for me. i fret over daniel every time, from beginning to end, i can feel my shoulders relaxing when the episode finishes. the one thing that makes me feel better over kerwin's death and…
