Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into her side, Chief. We was comin’ back from the island of Tinian to Leyte. We’d just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in 12 minutes.

Your apparent claim that 'centrists' and 'back-to-basics common sense' represent 'rationality' and not ideological thinking is incorrect.

Hmmm. Maybe it's time to give this AV Club After Dark thing a try

Have they officially been nuked? Or is in an issue still being resolved?

I cannot think of a more appropriate time to reboot the Clive Clemmons Inappropriate Response Channel

You supported him. Trump is on your hands!

Donald Trump thanks you for your support.

'[Democrats] Portraying moderate Republicans like McCain and Romney as evil Nazis'

I don't think there's any evidence for Bradley effect (or shy voter) here.

I think the Clinton campaign's last week or so of campaigning–which included stops in MI and PA, which seemed odd to some–suggests that her campaign's internal polls were anticipating the final vote to some degree.

I wonder about the 'hanging up on the pollsters thing', or any sort of particular conservative aversion to polling. Recent polling errors don't seem to break in progressives' favor.

Bush was slightly ahead of the polls before the 2004 elections, but there were a lot of undecided voters. Conventional wisdom at the time thought undecided voters generally broke for the challenger, a lot of people thought Kerry would win. He did not, and as it turned out the polling was pretty accurate that cycle. So

I think the problem is with the polling more than the aggregators. Something's seriously flawed with current polling methodologies; too many people are apparently being missed.

and the electoral college

I know what you mean.

Yeah I figured if I had to get a new account I'd change it up a bit.

at least trump can't take my music away

I still don't think that's the case. I think modern methods of polling in a post-landline era are inadequate. This sort of surprise election result has been happening too often lately. Polls are missing a lot of people.

Yes. I created this fancy new Discus account because I fully expect The Flyin Hawaiian to be consigned to the dustbins of history.
