The whole War of the Worlds panic thing is a bit of myth that has been blown way out of proportion.

HSB was the first 'water cooler' show that I remember. This was the era of the prime time soaps and shows like Dallas, Falcon Crest, and Dynasty dominated the airwaves and what HSB brought to the screen was truly unique and exciting.
