Ward knows Danny is telling the truth as soon as Danny starts talking about their childhood in the car. You can see it. The fact that Ward doesn't want to say that it's Danny and wants to get him out of the picture asap is a whole different matter.

They could have done more comedy interaction between Danny and his assistant Meghan as well. "Meghan - do you think anybody would mind if I road my skateboard through the lobby?"
I hadn't really thought about budget. It's testament to Daredevil that budget constraints have hardly ever been apparent. I bet there's all sorts of concessions they had to make for Daredevil that we never even noticed. I'd say the same for JJ. Maybe LC. Whereas suddenly with IF it looks like it. Maybe they spent it…
PLEASE spoiler tag this stuff. It is way too easy to scroll down and see this conversation. This is the episode two discussion thread.
"Asian culture". :(
My strong feeling on the fight scenes is they made the right thematic decision in making Danny's fighting be less brutal take-a-beating style like Daredevil and much more "Can't Touch This". That's absolutely the right decision. I like what they were going for. But the execution was weak. They're short, choppy (not in…
A brief shot of Joy closing a porn window when Ward walks in would have added a hilarious and much needed bit of actual realistic depth to the character. :D :D
Statler: "Iron Fist? The amount of hammy acting in this they should have called it The Hamfisted."
The Hand stealing a dragon would make for a hillarious, old-school physical comedy. I'm imaginging tails whipping behind alleys just before people turn around, old homeless people with a bag-wrapped bottle in their hand doing comic "it was a dragon…" exclamations to passers by, Nobu running up to a hotdog stand and…
Colleen isn't teaching them "self-defense". It's a martial arts school and traditional.
Episode 10. Hang in there your majesty - this is one of the few things in the series that actually does make sense! (relatively). :)
I tuned out of Luke Cage and couldn't get through it. This I watched all of. So I guess it's better than Luke Cage. Can't approach DD Season 1, though. Or even DD Season 2, imo, which I thought wasn't nearly as good as Season 1 but still had a great deal to like about it.
I hope they do give it a second season, despite all my criticisms. It has great potential and would watch a second season.
I don't want to get into it because of the spoilery nature of it (come on, AV Club - give us a spoiler space for the whole series, already), but regards your spoiler, I can't be the only one who thought he had a good case.
As a sometime actor, I'm going to offer a defense of the cast. For example, Ward has some wonderful expressions and delivery later in the series. I think they're doing the best that they can with what is both a poor script and wildly inconsistent characterisation. I'll avoid spoilers but there are multiple times when…
True, but presumably the actor isn't quite method enough to actually go that far for a role. (I would hope!).
Yeah. That last one in particular was a great line. But if they could do him as a rapper for the movie and somehow avoid making it gimmicky, that would be a very fine thing, imo.
Ha! You're not kidding. I reached the ice-cream episode earlier today and remembered this conversation. Talk about synchonicity. See - vanilla is important! :D
Yep. My hiearchy of blame on this goes as follows:
Writing - bad dialogue, nonsense plotting and logic.
Directing - mediocre.
Acting - okay to good.
On the subject of eyes, how the Hell are his and his sister's pupils dilated so much the whole time. Normally on a brightly lit set, pupils are much smaller. His sister's pupils look like she's an owl-person half the time. Has someone invented muscle-relaxant eye drops or something? Are they filming slightly high?…
