What's the point of a franchise if you're not going to play with the toys?

In fairness there was a lot of bitching when Enterprise came out about it looking too advanced compared to TOS.

Mostly the clunky dialogue and wooden acting.

Accurate.

The Abramsverse exists precisely because Paramount only has the rights to what's in the movies and CBS only has the rights to what's in the shows.

Though a number of the rebootverse comics have been reimaginings of TOS episodes, but a lot of them took place in between 09 and Into Darkness.

In fairness there are a number of comics and novels covering that period.

Honestly they could just adapt the basic premise of the MMO and run with it, there's some cool plots in it.

I would think that post-DS9 Cardassia is more like its Bonn Republic period.

I want optimistic Star Trek, not fighter ships. I want species learning to work together, not constantly fighting

I did not know that. I feel bad for all the times I made fun of Voyager now.

That was beautiful, man.

That has potential.

Considering the no less than five uniform changes Starfleet underwent during the 15-year period that TNG, DS9, and Voyager happen across, I'm willing to let it slide.

Military uniforms have always influenced and been influenced by fashion for as long as they've been in use. Although the Nazis are the most famous example, many modern militaries have had uniforms designed by fashion designers.

I did notice some of the bridge consoles have actual buttons alongside the touchscreens and stuff, like a fighter cockpit. That was a neat touch.

looks like it was made by Trekkies.

No.

That's only really an Abramsverse thing in the first place. This setting is in the prime timeline.

My interpretation was that his character's species probably evolved from a prey animal and has a heightened awareness of vulnerability.
