Since we're having to deal with the nazis again, how about another rousing round of post modernism. Except this time lets destroy cinema instead of art. We don't deserve nice films anymore.

Did they ask for a retraction or were they complaining about the removal of context?
I know basically nothing about Jolie as a person, so I have no idea whether that would be shockingly out of character for her or not. I mean I want to say it sounds a bit weird that someone who's devoted a lot of their time trying to reduce the suffering in these places would purposefully contribute to it in order to…
I lived in Europe for a while and when I was in the UK the cinema would literally not admit under 15's to R rated movies. If you didn't have ID, you didn't get in. So definitely no kids in hard R movies.
Holy shit is that even allowed? I thought the cinema's would literally not let people into see R movies without ID?
Vs what's essentially August? If we're talking the so-called dump months, they're both it.
Yeah, The Emoji movie did so well because it had absolute zero competition. Kids movies are generally untouchable that way, because parents don't seem to care about the quality of what they sit their kids down in front of for two hours. Parents plus their kid or multiple kids makes for quick BO. Bad reviews rarely…
Yep. Not saying anything bad about John Wick. It's great. It did well. All these movies are low budget, independently funded films, so as long as they're making Focus Features money, it's all good. They're never going to be competing with massive studio blockbusters.
The original John Wick opened to just over 14 mill weekend BO for comparison.
God I hope not.
It's not playing in as many screens as Emoji Movie and it's made a fair bit more than the first John Wick movie, so it's doing just fine. Fully expect Germany to turn out for it too.
Never expected a hard R rated action movie to win against a kids movie on the weekend in school break.
It's not of great consolation when it came extremely close to beating it and landed above way better movies, is it? I can only hope for an extreme crash and burn next week.
Blame Illumination Studios for that trend.
God I hope not. That would be so bad.
Oh yay I'm so happy to hear it's good! Maybe they'll shift it if festival (whatever one it screens at) feedback is promising. I listened to Theron on a podcast talking about how she felt crazy harming her health putting on all that weight for the role because "no one's going to see it". Maybe she's underestimating…
Will TULLY be being shown there? I've been waiting for Diablo Cody's new movie for ages! I know it wrapped last fall, so it must be soon.
Is it mean that I kind of want it to suck? Or at least be aggressively mediocre. I mean honestly it doesn't matter how good the performance does or doesn't turn out to be it's just the most eyeroll-worthy collection of Oscar bait cliches in one film possible.
Not to mention they both look pretty similar in age.
So they're playing his parents in like a flashback right? Or are we just doing the usual Hollywood th- … We're doing the usual Hollywood thing. Got it. Great…
Yeah I feel like the cut-off point is too early. I'm not bothered enough to fight anyone on this, but I spent a lot of my growing up years without a mobile phone and the internet. I remember having my mind blown when my mom brought a DOS computer home from work and I could play text adventures on it.
