Totes. I kept feeling bad throughout the episode, for finding that man so damn attractive. And strangely witty. I mean, saying he's already bored of Jaime's chess game? HA! It's like I want him to suddenly turn into a nice guy so I don't feel bad about the fact that he's hot. Weird.

Damn I wish I could elaborate, but I'm sure Mary could have had a happish life.

Yeah, the vibe the Compte has for Claire is like … I hate you so much and yet I want to rip your clothes off and I hate that, it's all your fault. As far as Randall confiding in Sandy (ha! brilliant), I don't think Randall would talk about that kind of thing, even to another gay man. At the end of the day it was a

Yes! That sounds totally plausible. And kudos to casting because they got an actor who looks a lot like Tobias to play Alex. I noticed it especially during this episode.

Master Raymond's waistcoat was incredible. I was admiring it on my second watch. It had an eye embroidered on it. And Claire's dress/hood when she visited him at his apothecary was stunning. I never gave much thought to waistcoats before this season of Outlander ;-)

Thanks for the link to "Fist City". That was amazing and my new fave song.

Especially since she's not getting any herself.

Well said. Amen.

I don't see it that way. It's an adaptation. One with support from the author. Some things, narratively, do not translate well from page to screen. There is no way to totally copy the book. There are time constraints and exposition restraints. We don't have the luxury of reading every detail of Claire's thoughts, like

I just don't think every tiny little detail, at the end of the day, matters. Like, you're gonna drive yourself crazy. It's almost to the point where it's like, I hate this show! No one wore Claire's shade of red lipstick in the 1700's, that particular color didn't show up till the 20's. I mean, really. You're

Claire got waxed too in the book, and under her arms. I remember it because Jaime didn't really like it and I thought that was hilarious. Also, yes, they do mention her pregnancy in the beginning when the servant chides her for making her own bed, because she's with child. It's simply not done.

He'll always be that guy from Sex and the City to me ;-) The guy with the funky-tasting spunk. Such a legacy.

They really have nothing in common. Except swords. And the women wear dresses. That's about it.

I'm with you, and I read the books and knew what was coming. Most episodes, I watched several times, but I couldn't watch the one more than once. It was probably one of the hardest things to watch that I've ever sat through. I mean, I realize it's in the books, and they want to stay true to the book, but they really

The books definitely paint him accurately, i.e., pretty much useless. I'm sure the show will too.

I'm with ya. I didn't think it would happen, but he's making the man likable. He deserves an emmy.

I agree. I don't think he ever had any intention of killing himself. It was all the act of someone who thought they could get away with anything, having his mind explode from the realization that he wasn't invincible, and he put on a show. He wasn't living in reality at that time, where actions have consequences, as
