The writer doesn't get the show methinks. If he's so caught up on whether or not International Assasin was real or not he really doesn't understand that the entire show is just a metaphor for loss.

I like that quite a bit.

Thank god this show with a strong female lead, a best friend who is also a strong female and not a stereotype, a male character that's been changed into a lesbian for TV, a lesbian relationship that fees real not pandering nor casts them as saints or stereotypes and is seen as perfectly normal, an interracial

The cave is a reference to the allegory of the cave. Basically we only see shadows of the real world or what our mind wants us to see. Similar to the Buddhist view of perception. Patti was basically the dark side in yourself when you are so hurt by grief and loss that tells you to give up and never search for love again because it always goes away. Kevin needed to kill that aspect of himself, his adversary to be able to truly be able to love and be loved again. It's a Greek mythology trip

I think it definitely had to do with the fire the dad lit. He mentioned they were in the same goddamn room and every time he want to communicate with kevin he had to light the fire. So you heard the TV make the weird noises followed by the fire alarm going off as a false alarm.

The trip into the supernatural allowed for some really good dialogue scenes. patti explaining that he should to give into the pain of your loss and embrace it was a powerful moment. The show really is about how the living deal with grief. The sudden disappearance is just a story building vehicle to show it.

Sounds like you only see color
