In my experience, non-native speakers are much more careful with their grammar when speaking and writing in English than those raised speaking English. They are also far less likely to get shirty about being corrected.

"Less guns"? Hah! I immediately pictured half of a gun. I can't help it, I read a lot and usages which fall outside of the normal, accepted (and yes, grammatically correct) range always make me pause.
