I'm not sure why the fact that a lesbian sleeping with a man for a baby is "not new" is such a criticism. This is a show about a serial killer and the hunt for other serial killers. You could argue a lot of things in it are tropes of the genre, or of police procedurals and the like. But just because something is

I think Margot was just using him for his sperm, but we'll find out next week. All that talk about legacy and whatnot.

Nah, I think it's all part of Will's long con. I highly doubt that was really Freddie they were eating. Three more eps and we shall see!

This is as likely good as the show will ever get unless the writer's room is fired wholesale, so if you think the writing is "terrible" now it's probably best to drop it. Also, "terrible" is a referent I think a lot of people would toss at a show worse than this at the moment.

They're distinctions without a difference. The show exists within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a movie about SHIELD will get referenced in Agents of SHIELD. If it didn't, people would cry foul even harder. And any ties to the established mythology of the Marvel Universe that you cite HAS to take place within

Eh? I thought Skye didn't want to be a killer or be responsible for Ward's death.

Huh? She didn't want to be responsible for a guy's death. Even a bad guy. She's not a killer. The scene made that explicit I thought.

Don't expect an answer. You won't get one.

To be fair, Skye also saved Ward because she didn't want to be a murderer. The scene and dialogue made that explicit. That's understandable and it's within her character. It isn't a very good example of the "blandness and stupidity" you are pointing out.

Now compare Orphan Black to the Marvel movies from whence this universe came. This is a universe of supervillians and alien gods and superheroes and comic booky plots. That is what people largely wanted this show to be back in the fall, a rollicking Marvel comic booky show with ties to the Marvel universe. It will

Uh, we'll find out? They'll make new stories?

Fans in the fall: Gee, I wish SHIELD had more ties to the Marvel Universe.

Honestly, she was good this episode.

Your blanket condemnations here and elsewhere of people who like superhero media, which essentially condemns a huge percentage of people on Earth as most have probably appreciated a superhero comic book or movie here and there (at the very least, the Batman, Avengers, Superman, or Spiderman movies, etc.), reeks of

This gave me a good laugh, although probably not for the reasons you intended. Thanks.

I don't watch the show, so can't attest to his talent or merits. But it seems that, for better or for worse, the internet age is built upon utilizing social media to hook interest and reel people in. Like how we're both commenting on a viral video. Oooh, meta. Help!

I think his lip sync battles are an established thing, no?

Oh, I may have gotten confused because I don't think anybody has expressly said "Oh Fury's alive! I'm so glad!" or something like that.

You know, no. I gotta defend the Mary Sue thing. This show has been such an object of snark and ridicule for so long, I actually APPLAUD the writers for naming her Mary Sue. I appreciated it. They are allowed ONE moment of snarky meta rejoinder.

Yeah, I interpreted it as "I am 95% sure Ward did this, but I will do the final double-check and tell him we need to tell Koenig and see what he says." It was a nice move.
