Are you supposed to eat the dark outside part of smoked gouda? It smelled good and it tasted good so I assume it's edible, but it also tasted a little like plastic and it was really hard to chew. I ate a bit of it and it wasn't terrible. Plastic-y and difficulty chewing were the only problems I had with it.
