The baby part was sad and gross but not scary. It would have been a good start to actual scares. I think they could have more effectively made her slowly sacrificing her mortal soul scarier.

I don't get it? What would scare you about anything that happened?
Same here wasn't interested after seeing the trailer and only changed my mind when I read this review.
Who was Gadot's character? I couldn't place him from the description on the review. The only mobster that stuck with me other than Winslet was the hassidim because of his clothes.
It's not a great movie but it's a fun pulpy crime movie. Depending on your mood you may enjoy it more than Killing them Softly. Triple 9 takes less mental effort to watch.
As someone who lives in an area with a Jewish USSR community the costume and hair were pretty dead on. The hair should have been bleached white instead of blonde so they were actually fairly restrained.
I liked it. It's over stuffed like Heat and To Live and Die in L.A. (both of which seem like influences as well as Training Day) and not as good as either but one of the better crime movies that's come out lately. I thought it was perfect for a cold Saturday here in the north east. I even bought Affleck as a tough cop…
There are absolutely no scares in this. NONE, ZERO. There are other good qualities about it but it's advertised as being a horror film and most people will fight the urge to be embarrassed and laugh at a lot of what passes for THE HORROR. Black Thomas I'm looking at you.
Your right there. This movie has been made like a million times and a few of those hysterical puritan movies are probably actually scary.
I'm scared of sitting through movies where there's a lot of hysterical puritan scenes. We haven't seen that enough?
Yea, this is a new kind of horror that's a lot like all bad horror. No scares.
Just saw it. Very disappointing. Not a scare in the whole thing.
Always thought you could soundtrack a great speghetti western with Yardbird songs. Like "Still I'm Sad" "For Your Love" and "Heart Full of Soul". They have a great weird, baroque, Italianate quality too them.
Give me "Over, Under, Sideways, Down" any day and I love "Heart Full of Soul".
Yea, great guitar playing on that version also. Tiny Bradshaw, Johnny Burnette, Yardbirds, Aerosmith. All terrific versions.
Yea, great stuff. RamonesMania is an awesome album. Up there with CCR's Chronicles for their rosetta stone like ability to define a classic type of Rawk'n'Roll.
Interesting, thanks.
Thanks!
I'm going to give it a good listen tonite just for you! Where should I start? Piper's at the gates of dawn?
I hated Floyd in my serious punk days but I love their great stuff now (Time, Have a Cigar, Wish You were Here) but they get repetitive with the "I loaded up on acid and am having an identity crises. Do I really exist" songs.
