About the ending, apparently Bigfoot had been lurking around the tent and heard the woman turn down, or at least postpone agreeing to, her boyfriends proposal. He probably thought he had a shot at her, especially when she suggested they should move in together first. He thought, "Hey, I'll let her move in with me."
