I read the book, and it seemed to me a satire, pretty funny in a lot of places. Not that it wouldn't work as a thriller, but I wonder if it's been changed or just being marketed that way.

I read somewhere (can't remember if it was a critic's speculation or Mamet in an interview) that he made TSP in part to prove that he, Mamet, didn't need profanity to write good dialogue.
