Don't get me wrong - I loved Henry Blake! But I just found everything with Col. Potter to be more believable and rounded. Not a knock on Henry's character, I just liked how different they were willing to go with a replacement character who I grew to like even more.

M*A*S*H is the only show I can think of where every character's departure and subsequent replacement improved the show. Col. Potter, BJ and Charles Emerson Winchester were all much more rounded and interesting characters than their predecessors.

That does surprise me though, as I'd have thought the reduced ratings would matter less given the decreased production costs for a part 2. Seems like a way to generate more episodes on a limited budget to me…
