I really like his characterization so far. He's the kind of character I'd love to see twenty years down the road, after his pain and anger has had time to mellow and heal, after he has fully matured.

That was still the angriest I have ever gotten at Elizabeth on this show. She was so outraged that the plans they STOLE were not 100% accurate and safe, and therefore the Americans were guilty of first-degree murder.
One of my favorite moments last season was Stan trying to break things off with Oleg, saying how his life was a mess and he didn't want to use Oleg's brother's death to manipulate him. I understand the CIA's perspective that since Oleg gave info before, he could be manipulated into giving more info, and he'd be a…
Those bits in each of the specials were so indulgent, but it still cracked me up, particularly the last one when they start bashing Seth MacFarlane. "He watched TV in the 80s, we get it."
I can't not think of the Family Guy versions whenever I watch Star Wars anymore. I went to see Rogue One with my brother and at one point when the villain's imperial shuttle was coming into a new planet, my brother whispers to me "permission to land like a dainty butterfly." To which I of course responded "nice…that…
The episode did seem rushed to me, but I feel that way with a lot of half-hour shows. It's interesting, as someone who grew up in a heavily religious community, the God stuff struck so true and hilarious. It happens a lot, where the younger generation has grown away from organized religion or even religion period but…
I had assumed they wore masks to be extra special careful and because the corpse would probably stink. I don't know much about those kinds of things, but I assumed it would take bodily fluids to get infected. I was more worried about all the dust they were kicking up opening the steel container.
There's an a-ha track called "Never, Never" that is an early, previously unreleased version of "The Sun Always Shines on TV" that I've always dreamed would be used on the show. It's dark and rough with wintry imagery, and would get credit for being a really deep cut of a one-hit wonder 80s band.
As another "yokel" from Ohio, how about (4) trying to find some of these movies in theaters is hard for us Middle America folks who suffer from those prestige limited releases. The Oscars are over by the time we get decent access to some of these movies, so why would we watch an awards show all about them? I…
If that Starkist Tuna commercial is any indication of her acting abilities, I know I couldn't sit through more than five minutes of it.
At least they don't do what the Christian UP network does with Gilmore Girls reruns - they mute every single mild curse word (hell, damn, etc) which has the hilarious inadvertent result of making the show seem a lot fouler since you mentally fill in the blank with much harsher language. I don't know what a Christian…
"Archibald Converse" cracked me up, although I had to look it up and apparently the founder's name was Marquis Mills Converse so it wasn't quite as absurd as all that.
Which is why a network like TCM can air movies completely uncensored, because the network is dedicated to the preservation of film as an art form so those behind the channel aren't going to pull funding over unsavory content. If many people watched TCM, they might be shocked at the profanity, violence, nudity, and sex…
Well, the first one had a Jewish guy playing Italian, the 80s one had an Italian guy playing Cuban, so maybe this time it can be a Cuban actor playing Jewish?
I think The Americans would really benefit from binge-watching, since the pace of the show puts off a lot of people.
"To me this was all just a bit like when Bugs Bunny fucks with the opera singer for twenty minutes."
I thought people were reading too much into it when they thought Jeff and Kurt were involved, but in retrospect I agree that it's a perfect way to keep Jeff from being the one evil alien. I loved Jeff's comment that wooing Richard was "for the mission," and Don was all "yeah, sure, of course."
I was afraid they had killed him off too but I'm so glad they didn't. He's turned into probably my favorite character, although all the characters have really really grown on me.
"Running tiny boat lake." "Oh, okay." I wish Yvonne and Gerry had gotten a little more screen time together because I think they're adorable as a couple.
I wish the show was longer or that it gets more seasons because they built up so many great characters but we just don't have the time for all of them.
