I thought it was implying that he is dead inside. It does appear that his time on the stand wore on his conscience. I truly hope they don't blow it on the final episode.

I loved the series of cat related scenes in the episode tonight:
-Stone feeds cat and shuts door.
-Cat opens door.
-Cat gets in bed.
-Stone wakes with cat.
-Stone visits doctor regarding cat.
-Stone leaves doctor and sees a Chinese beckoning "lucky cat" in a window waving to him.
