I think Jon's past his peak at this point and I agree with many of your criticisms, but at the same time I remember when they came back from their last vacation, they had one of their strongest weeks in memory. The 15 year old show is of course going to be a little shakier than the 8 year old show.
More predictable than "all the bad guys die the end"? Fine, but do you not feel like the revenge plots have played out by now?

They entertain, sure, but the Tarantino of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and even True Romance had more (if only a little)…
