That's the Luxembourg part. Wakanda has a stellar civil rights record, I believe.

I, too, find it patronizing they hired a famous, talented writer to write something for them. The horror.

Well, crossed with Saudi Arabia (the giant pile of natural resources thing).

Yes. I do know what you mean.

Agreed.

Needs more Rowlf.

We'll get rid of something from All Shook Down. No one will notice.

I referenced it below. Plenty of love for Kronk.

The Emperor's New Groove. When Kronk and Yzma beat our heroes back to the castle, Kuzco rightly complains, "No! It can't be! How did you get back here before us?"

I don't think he's arguing for completely absolving people of blame for their own misdeeds, but from a policy standpoint focusing more on structural issues than individuals. Once we figure out who to blame, we tend to think of it is a crisis over, and we leave the systems which were abused or even caused the crisis in

Really, you can buy the All Ages and '80-'85 compilations and have pretty much everything a casual Bad Religion fan will ever need.

You'll swap out Hootenanny over my dead body!

It's hard to mess up a Mats playlist, as there's just too many great songs to include them all, and everyone gets that. This is a pretty good career-spanning list. My personal fave is Treatment Bound, but I get that it's not one of the "hits".

I also remember this as my first "grown up" show. Even as a middle school kid, I could tell this show was better written than most of the stuff on TV. The banter still feels like it was pulled from a 1930s screwball comedy via Brian DePalma and Dr. Seuss.

If that's true, that makes me so happy.

I remember our local rock radio station going from all hair metal all the time to "Alternative". It was horrifying, but it really did feel like the freaks and losers were winning.

I remember when the film came out and I was arguing with someone over the Widow/Banner scene and they asked rhetorically if I could ever imagine Marvel having a scene in which a male character felt incomplete because he couldn't have children, and I answered YES! It's in the same damn scene. The scene starts with

I never would have guessed Clear Channel had a playlist this large.

The self-righteousness was a feature, not a bug. As an adult, it kinda sucks, as I only know a few people who care about the Archers of Loaf show, but as a teen… getting to feel smarter than everyone else was part of the appeal.

I think that's what I really like about 80s movies. Even the fairly mainstream movies aimed at teens hinted at this whole other world outside of the mainstream.
