If ending slavery was such a good thing, why did Jesus never say a word against the practice?

the most righteous man who ever lived was Jesus Christ and he had absolutely nothing to say about slavery. He freed not a single slave. He saved a woman from the penalty for adultery, he healed a Centurion's child, but he was no Spartacus.

yeah, because that would conveniently hide the fact that Bowie exposed Australia as a more racist country than South Africa in the 80s (height of Apartheid) in Let's Dance.

But Lincoln started the entire civil war, how could he possibly be a good person?
